When the man went out to hunt a bedroom TV, I begged him to bag one with blue tooth, since we sleep on differing schedules, and I had a new set of blue tooth headphones.
But, did he listen?
Spoiler: He did not listen. He bought the cheapest 42" TV on offer, a Hisense, without blue tooth. (Shocking, I know.)
So, I first purchased a blue tooth transmitter. Every single soul in this household tried to make the darn thing work, but no dice, so back to Amazon it went.
Next, I purchased the Monodeal Digital Stereo Headsets with Charging Dock. Initially, I used the red/yellow plugs provided to connect to the TV, but... no sound. I searched for an answer in the pdf manual that came with the TV, and realized those plugs were for 'audio in', when I needed 'audio out'. (image of the rear panel of my Hisense TV included, since I figure mine won't be the last man to buy this same 'bargain' TV.)
When I swapped the connection to the headphone jack... BANG, instant sound.
They aren't playing when they say the headset needs to charge initially for seven hours. But, once I let them charge overnight, they work like a dream. I'm not what I'd call an audiophile, but I *might* be experiencing some hearing loss, particularly with high notes (or, it could be learned behavior from tuning out my granddaughter in her whinier, drama queen moments). With this headset, I can hear every word spoken onscreen with absolute clarity. If someone wants to watch TV without the headphones, it is a simple matter to reach behind the screen and pull out the plug from the audio jack.
If I use them in bed, the next morning I just drop them on the charger, so they're always charged when I need them. In two weeks of use, I have not had a problem with them losing charge.
Since this TV rests atop a chest of drawers, the charger and headset fit behind the screen with no problem, so whenever I get ready to watch a show while someone else sleeps, all I need to do is slide the plug into the headset jack and I'm in business. It's been easy to learn where this plug is, even in the dark. I don't think I have encountered a simpler simpler piece of technology since Ma Bell used to bring those big black desk phones to your home and plug them in for you, yanno?
Additionally, this morning I got a nice email from the seller, telling me I could register (at no charge!) for a lifetime warranty on my set, and they'd also send me a second set of headphones at no charge.
How can you beat that for customer service after the sale? I am thrilled with this purchase.
