I Bought These Pioneers To Replace Some Used JBLs I Purchased From Amazon.com The JBLs Had a Loose Connection Where The Aux Cord Would Connect To the Headphones, Very Frustrating To Find The Sweet Spot Where You'd Actually Get Sound. Anyway I Decided On These Pioneers Because Quite Frankly I Liked The Price Point, How The Red Looks On These, It's a Brand I Trust (I've Been Buying Pioneer Equipment Since '88). They Sound Good For the Price Point, Mids and Highs Are The Strong Suits The Bass Is Definitely Not It's Strong Suite. I'd Definitely Would Still Recommend These Though Especially For Someone Looking To Spend Less Than a $100.

After mixed success with mostly-plastic Bluetooth-enabled over-ear headphones, I wanted to turn to simple, vintage-style, wired, passive over-ear headphones. These headphones fit that bill.

Comfort: These are some for the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. I have a pretty big head (size 8?). These cups completely surround my ears and the frame doesn't squeeze my head. They're also surprisingly lightweight for their size, but I think that's also because they're not housing noise-canceling tech, batteries, etc.

Build-Quality: The metal-arm construction is what first caught my eye and it continues to deliver. These cans don't fold down for easy travel, but I don't consider these travelers, anyway (I mean, you can, but I would keep these in the office or for the home). The cups look metal, but they're plastic (no big deal, I don't see them breaking). The cord is very robust. I wish it weren't permanently wired in, but it's not a huge deal for the price. The mic sounds pretty good—which I use for video meetings almost daily. On recordings, it sounded almost like wearing a gaming headset.

Sound Quality: For those who don't need noise-canceling for substantial sound-isolation, I would say these headphones sound pretty good. I like to listen to jazz and dub reggae and find that they handle natural-sounding bass pretty well. If you absolutely need your ear-drums drop-kicked with wobble bass, you may want something with an active amp. These are much more vintage-style in their sound.

      My Biggest Beefs:
My biggest problems with these headphones are minuscule (especially since I'm wearing them as I type this!), but could be dealbreakers for some.
      - The cord could be longer for use with a computer or stereo. Being that these are pretty much non-folding stay-at-home or stay-at-office, I wish I had about an extra 4-6 feet. While you could use a TRRS male-and-female extension cable, I get around this issue by turning them Bluetooth with an MPOW BH298 Bluetooth receiver that was about $15 and is about the size of a small matchbox. I used a binder clip that I run through the headphone cable to keep it clipped to my shirt. Then, boom, Bluetooth enabled! However, the shorter cable is ok when using it with your phone or when plugged into a Roku remote or something that you keep in your hands.
      - I wish the cable was detachable. I kind of understand that a detachable cable would mean installing an input that would increase the price and the failure rate of the headphones, it just would be nice.
      - Not the Best for Travel: This downside is also a perk. No real hinges or case mean that these headphones should probably remain in the office or at home. Save your beater headphones or earbuds for travel and leave these at home for when you return.

      My Favorite Aspects:
      - Comfort: These feel luxurious. I could wear them for a 9-hour workday without feeling like my head's been in a vice.
      - No Frills: These are minimalist headphones. Less to break.
      - Solid construction: These don't really have any hinges at all. Still, those hinges are where most break.
      - Vintage look and sound: These remind me of a lighter version of my parents' headphones from the '70s. Those were my favorite headphones ever. So, these are as close as I can get without having headphones that weigh as much as a pilot's headset.
      - Decent mic: I had to hunt and peck a bit before I found vintage-style headphones with a mic. This mic is pretty good for Zoom meetings, phone calls, etc.

      Conclusion:
If you're looking for minimalist headphones with no frills for your home or office, but a great vintage sound and construction that you can use for Zoom meetings or phone calls, these are a great choice.

I bought these because I like the way they looked and the Pioneer name. The have a very good sound stage especially with cymbals and vocals and I have heard stuff I have not heard before on familiar albums, But the Bass seems to be missing. Perhaps as the drivers loosen up the bass will be more apparent. I have used them plugged directly in to my Phone and with a tube headphone amp and the Bass is weak . Compared to my Bose noise canceling and Sennhisers have very pronounced Bass. I had a pair of Pioneer 6x9 car speakers and they had no Bass at all replaced them with 30.00 6x9s from walmart that pound out the Bass. I will keep the Pioneer headphones because i like the way they make jazz music sound. 15 hours of listening the Bass appeared. I am using a little dot 2 tube headphone amp and all of sudden the Bass started pumping out. I am surprised for 50.00 these are amazing headphones . Because the Bass is not over emphasized the other instruments and voices take their natural positions . These sound better than my 300.00 Bose noise canceling headphones . But i think the noise canceling circuits ave an effect on the sound. My sennhiser 's are open back so they have a different sound , the pioneers are every bit as good.

Now, I don’t consider myself an audiophile, but I do mind the quality of my music. If it sounds muddy, or the headphones are too heavy, maybe it breaks after a while. You get my point. I go out a bit farther than an average consumer looking for an ordinary pair of headphones. In this case, it’s ear cups (in my opinion) are far bigger that an ordinary pair of over-ear-headphones. This is a good thing for me, because I have big ears. Of course you get what you paid. The quality of sound is 50/50 for me. Some days, it sounds just right, but other days, it does sound mildly muddy in quality.

In conclusion, these aren’t a bad par of cups to get, but there are cheaper options that I know that match everything this does, like the turtle beach headsets.

Music is amazing when listening with these. I can hear every nuance and detail in the music. I was listening a rock song yesterday, one that I have heard many times but with these I noticed that there was a sax in the background. You can hear the little details in the music. They are balanced well and can hear high and lows. They simply produce a beautiful sounds. Great headphones for the price which you would not know based on the sound. Granted the build is not as high a quality as those over $100 but they are built well. These headphone are very comfortable to wear.

I've been a Pioneer electronics fan since the 70's so when I had to replace my headphones I turned to these. I use these to listen mainly to TV as I have a ROKU and you can just plug in the headphones to the remote. These work fine for that purpose but I can tell they are not audiophile quality when I listen to movies that have great soundtracks these headphones are just ok. There isn't any depth to them and I say this from previously using some relatively inexpensive Bose headphones.
Again, these headphones will do the job if all you're doing is trying not to wake anyone else up in the home while you watch movies or tv. For serious music listening they would not be my first choice. I wouldn't take these headphones if I was taking a long plane trip and needed them to listen to music and drown out the screaming kids.
On the other hand, the price is great and if I drop them or abuse them I won't care as I can replace them easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR GAMING!!!

I was looking for a gaming headset for several weeks as my old Logitech G430 was dying (had them for 4 years). Anyways, after a botched attempt at ordering a pair of Corsair HS60 Pro (they never arrived) - I decided to explore other options. I wanted something that could act as gaming headphone and mic, but that was also good for just listening to music. I was a little worried that the mic on these Pionneers might not be adequate for gaming online. Well, let me tell you...after asking several teammates during several online games if my mic sound was okay, I got the same response every time: "Yes, excellent...loud and very clear." And for those of you who are worried about these not having surround sound, well guess what: Windows 10 has a little app built in called "Sonic" which turns your stereo headphones into surround sound headphones (free) and I find that this combination is even better than what my Logitech headset was delivering. Further more, the volume on these are insane. On my old Logitechs I was gaming on my PC at a volume of about 80, and with these I usually leave them at 10 or 12!!! I really love these as they are great for music, gaming, and talking one the phone or video chat. Listen to "FLAC" music with these and you'll instantly grasp the epic audio quality you get for less than a hundred bucks. Oh, and there super comfortable and very noise cancelling. SOLD? You should be!

      Recomendables.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cuffie circumaurali con microfono
Reviewed in Italy on March 27, 2020

These are 5-star headphones. Not because they are the best there is but because they have what every headphone design should start with - getting sound balance and comfort right. It might seem that this is obvious but if you take the time to listen to different headphones you will find out that this is actually a very rare occurrence at ANY price range. Almost every headphones out there try to scream at you hoping to be noticed - booming bass, piercing nights, flashy looks, insane advertising budgets ... you name it. Decent sound mostly gets lost somewhere along the way. Or probably decency is not trending these days. That's what these headphones are - they are very comfortable, have a rather flat balance, seem well made and at this price they are simply the best headphones available. I challenge anyone to find anything to fault them about.

To put my review in context - directly out of my Benchmark DAC these are more resolving than HD650 and sound as if they have somewhat more extended frequency range with less rolled off treble and more prominent (or less well integrated bass). They also sound less "organic". than the HD650 but that's about it. Oh, and the HD650 are even more comfortable and have plusher ear cushions (literally :-) They also cost about 10x more than these Pioneer headphones.
