- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2019I got this $460 on sale and at that price it's an unbeatable value. Looks great works great. Plays all games on ultra in a 4k monitor at 40-60 fps. Would probably get much higher not at 4k. I also use it for rendering with octane and I wish I picked up two when they were on sale. I replaced a 1060 3gb card with this and the difference is amazing. Having three fans make it pretty long in the case but if your case can fit it is recommended this card. It over clocks to 2k pretty easy too

- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2016I upgraded from a 290X to the GTX 1080 XLR8 and it runs quiet and cool. Just playing around for about 20 minutes with afterburner I got it OC'd to 2050MHZ Boost, with Memory at 1350mhz without a sweat. Running a Uningine Heaven benchmark to check if it was stable I never hit above 68c or fan speed about 45%. Very pleased with the card and compared to other AIB solutions the price can't be beat for how cool and quiet it is. I scoured the net looking for reviews on the PNY XLR8 card and found none but glad I took the plunge on this card and saved $100 over other cards for the same performance. PNY has really stepped up their "gaming" brand lately with this and their SSD offerings, they will be very interesting to watch for sure.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2018Simply put: This card is a beast. I upgraded from a GTX 960, and the difference is night and day. I can play my entire game library on the highest settings without the card breaking a sweat. So far, I am very happy with this card as far as gaming is concerned. Granted,to get this level of performance, I chose to get into debt (I finally paid it off!!!). The downside to that is, rumors of the next generation of cards are on the horizon, but the same rumors indicate prices will still be punishing. So with that in mind, I pulled the trigger. In a few months, I could come to regret it, because rumors are just that. Perhaps I clung to the story to justify buying something this expensive.
Edit: Streaming is an absolute joy. I have decent Internet and CPU (i7 8700k), this video card makes the games smooth as silk on Twitch.
Edit 2: I did not see much increased performance with video or 3D rendering.
I will amend this review once I edit video, and render in 3D.
+ Excellent performance
+ Runs cool
+ Eye-pleasing design
+ Good price for the class of card, but still very pricey
- The card is very long. Make sure you have the room! I have a fairly large case, and even then, was quite the squeeze!
- The plastic cover and fans feel cheap
- Limited accessories in the box. No extra cables/adapters and the like, other than a splitter for PSU
- Software is lacking
- Exhaust is top/bottom not out the back, so do not let the cut-outs on the back plate fool you. It serves no purpose other than looks
- Unnecessary LED. The thing lights up everywhere for some unknown reason. I suppose it is just for looks. I had the same gripe about my motherboard. Why do I need disco lights on a flipping motherboard?
I have inklings of regret. If I had to re-do it, I would personally wait for the next generation of cards, especially if one plans to get into debt to buy one.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2017Fans are smaller then you would expect, with the only lighting on the card coming from the cheapo little fans. The housing has a big, empty plastic piece attached to it to display the PNY logo, and while it has nothing to do with actual performance, it looks and feels incredibly cheap.
My biggest issue is how anemic the heat sink is on this thing, especially combined with the small cheapo fans. My EVGA 1060 has a much more robust sink on it, with better fans. On this PNY, they even omitted any heat pipes on the VRM side of the sink. It's only a plate with some fins for the power components, and the pipes coming off the GPU. Even the aluminum fins look like they belong on a much cheaper unit, with surprisingly thin heat pipes (the pipes also have a VERY rough surface on them). The whole thing just screams cheap. Also, the VRM gets pretty hot under load, easily over 90C in some areas, not cool guys. Even the PCB the card is made on feels kinda brittle and cheap, and there is literally flash material jutting out from the separation points on the edges on the board.
It works fine, but it is built way too cheaply to justify the $550 asking price, even when considering it is a "budget" 1080. It also only has a 3 year manufacturer's warranty, though you can register it for a limited lifetime one... from PNY...
And remember, the poorer the quality of the cooler, the faster this thing will have problems, or flat out die.
Definitely wouldn't recommend it, nor would I trust it to last.
The sink cannot passively cool the card at all well when idle (what a surprise), and out of the box, the card keeps the fans running at 30% minimum, all of the time, even when doing absolutely nothing.
If you need a cheaper, blower-less 1080, absolutely grab the EVGA versions (or any other manufacturer's card for that matter), just make sure to check if it's an older EVGA card that needs it's heat pads replaced, since Amazon apparently still sells and sends them out.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2018Runs awesome. I can run all the latest games on a 4790K with this card. The system previously had a 290 in it. Talk about waking it up! The 4970K is still more than sufficient for all of today's games, and this card made all of them run great on that particular system. It's not as nice as the RTX 2080 and 8700K I'm typing this on, but I can tell you that gaming on that machine is awesome. Runs BF1 BO4 and other titles no problem with 100+ fps and high quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy buena tarjeta

3.0 out of 5 stars Cuidado con PNY
