I got this to connect my 2006 Mac Mini to a DisplayPort KVM; the Mini has built-in DVI. This unit seamlessly converts the signal and outputs it over a standard DisplayPort cable to either a monitor, or to the KVM. It's powered by USB, so make sure you have a USB port on your computer you can devote to that. For me, this solved the problem nicely and works great.

Worked for a few hours, then fell apart
I got this to work initially, but noted that the screws to secure the DVI connector were too short to engage the female side, and it did not seem to fit securely. After having it come out a few times and trying harder to engage the screws, I noted that the connector was actually moving in the plastic housing, and when I pushed it a bit to the side, it just came off as shown in the picture. It looks like the connector is just held in there with hot glue and the foil shield soldered to the connector... Edit: Upping from 1 to 3 stars, since Startech support is mailing a new one after I made a warranty claim. Hopefully the new one will work better. If this was some cheap cable then it would be one thing, but these adapters are actually kind of expensive, so it would be nice if it didn't just come apart.
